I was never one that really knew an abundant amount on skincare. I simply thought just washing my face with a makeup wipe every night would keep it fresh and clean. I was talking to my mom the other day and she was explaining the importance of skin care. She told me "I wish I would of listened when I was your age to my mom about protecting my skin". The reason we got on this topic was because I was recently sent a box from CVS that contained the Olay Retinol 24 Max collection and Olay Regenerist Ultra Rich Moisturizer. I told her that I was looking to help freshen up and protect my skin. She said Retinol was a great way for me to start preventing wrinkles. I laughed to myself and said, "I'm only 24 mom..Wrinkles??" She said "I promise if you start now you'll thank me when you're my age in 25 years." I was super excited about trying on this line. The products came in the cutest colorful box (I'm a sucker for good packaging) and inside I unpacked all my new goodies. Being I didn't know much about how to start adding Retinol to my skincare routine-- CVS x Olay helped me set up a Virtual Consultation call with Dr. Michele Henry. She is a Mount Sinai and Harvard trained Dermatologic and Mohs surgeon! We set up a time for a video call where I told her about my skin (I have a oily skin type) and some recent problems I've been having with Maskne around my chin (I'm sure we can all relate to this haha) She was able to access my skin through our video chat and helped me decided which of these products to incorporate into my morning and night time routines. She recommended I use the Olay Regenerist Ultra Rich Moisturizer
on my face in the mornings (to help my skin stay smooth and hydrated) and then use it at night but not under my eyes. She suggested I use the Olay Retinol24 MAX night serum there to help smooth my skin (which will help me in the long run to prevent my wrinkles) -- You can find these products at your local CVS or CVS.com.
Ultimately I needed to make sure I was providing my skin with the proper treatment instead of stripping it from just using make up wipes. Dr. Michelle Henry recommended that I start out doing this routine 2 times a week for a few weeks since I haven't used Retinol before. She also told me that it was normal to see some redness to start as it's common when beginning to use Retinol products. I've been going off of her guidance for a few weeks now and can already tell a difference. My skin feels healthier and smoother than before.
